For those of you who enjoy opening or closing your pool, below
are some useful tips to ensure that you correctly open or close your
pool!
Spring Start Up
Proper chemical treatment of your
pool for your annual spring opening is most important. It
greatly determines the protection and appearance of the poll for the
remainder of the year. The following are standard instructions
for "summerizing" your pool:
Mechanical:
Remove pool cover, clean with
AQUAPRO Cover Cleaner and store for use in the fall.
Reconnect all mechanical and
electrical systems.
Remove any large debris, branches,
leaves, etc.
Fill pool to mid-level of skimmer
opening.
Vacuum pool, then backwash and
clean filter.
After pool water circulates for 12
hours, take a sample to your Pools by Angelo for a complete water
analysis.
Balance the water according to
Pools by Angelo's recommendations.
Superchlorinate to clean and
disinfect pool
For outdoor pools, adjust the
stabilizer level if necessary.
Begin daily chlorination program.
Fall Closing
Careful closing or "winterizing" of
your pool is necessary to protect the pool surfaces and water
quality until next spring's opening. The key chemical factor
to remember is that the lower the temperature, the more corrosive
the pool water will become. To counteract this situation,
proper winterizing requires upward adjustment of the pH and total
alkalinity. To insure clean, disinfected water in the spring,
levels of chlorine and algaecide must be maintained throughout
winter storage.
Following are standard instructions
for "winterizing" your pool:
Balance your water to pH of - 7.8;
Total alkalinity of - 120 ppm; Calcium hardness of - 200 ppm.
Vacuum pool and clean filter
Lower water level and drain lines.
Winterize equipment.
Pools by Angelo has the AQUAPRO
Winterizing Kit which contains all the closing chemicals required
for proper winter protection of your pool.
